Ear Falls has an abundance of activities to suit any taste. Whether you feel like being outdoors or indoors, whatever the season, whatever the budget, Ear Falls has something for you to enjoy.  Have a picnic at the waterfront, star gaze, perfect your golf swing or get up close and personal with the wildlife.

There are hundreds of kilometers of shoreline, with stunning scenery ranging from sandy beaches and islands to secluded bays. Inland, you’ll find campgrounds and hiking trails among tall pine forests where bald eagles and other wildlife thrive.

Local camps and hotels offer a variety of packages to enhance your experience, and the clean air and friendly people will keep you coming back for years to come. 

Fishing

Ear Falls boasts the best the fishing that Northern Ontario has to offer. The town is positioned on the shores of the English River, with the River itself being joined by three giant waterways: the Chukuni, Cedar and Wenesaga Rivers. With numerous fishing and hunting camps located throughout the area, both novice and seasoned fishermen alike will find exactly what they are looking for in the ultimate fishing experience. Parks and Trails

Take advantage of the local trials all year round. In the summer months, mountain biking, ATVs and hiking are great ways to see the wildlife and experience the outdoors. In the winter months, bring along a thermos of hot chocolate and find enjoyment in snowmobiling, snow showing and cross country skiing.
Public Boat Launches:

The town has public boat launches for fishing boats and canoes:

  • Duchie’s Landing, situated just off Chestnut Street provides access to the English River
  • Wenesaga Landing, located 12 km down South Bay Road ad provides access to Wenesaga Lake
  • Goldpines Landing, located at the the end of Hwy 657 provides access to Lac Seul
  • Pakwash Provincial Park Landing, located 19 km north of Ear Falls provides access to Pakwash Lake

Hunting

Ear Falls is known for having the best hunting in Canada, drawing hundreds of hunters from all over the world each year. Healthy wildlife populations in the extreme Northern Ontario wilderness provide the essentials necessary for the ultimate hunting experience.

Golf

This challenging 9 hole course located just minutes from downtown and amid stunning scenery features medium-sized greens that occasionally offer some slope, and narrow tree lined fairways that are generally flat. The element of water throughout the course makes for a challenging game. Enjoy a meal inside or out on the back deck, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Memberships are available and daily walk-ons are welcome. The golf course is open daily from May to October and features:

  • Putting green
  • Clubhouse (licenced)
  • Club rentals
  • Pull and Power Cart rentals
  • Pro Shop

Gym

Open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, the KinFit athletic facility features modern cardio and weight training equipment, and is located in the Ear Falls Recreation Centre.

Memberships can be purchased at the Municipal Office during Regular Business Hours. An access Card is required to utilize the Gym. Daily Passes are available and can be paid to Recreation Centre Staff during regular business hours. For more information call 807.222.3624

Shopping

The main shopping area is the Ear Falls Plaza located in the centre of town. The Plaza contains a Credit Union, LCBO, Post Office, grocery store, hardware store, restaurant, and flower/gift shop.
There are numerous businesses along Highway 105 that provide hotel/motel accommodations, fishing and hunting gear, as well as souvenirs, movie rentals and other gifts.

Picnic Areas and Parks

There are a number of picnic areas and parks located in Ear Falls:

  • The Scott Street Sportsplex has two baseball diamonds, a covered picnic area, a seasonal restroom facility and a lighted sliding hill.
  • The Lion's Park playground is located on Balsam Avenue and has a sandbox and playstructure.
  • The Calvin Fulford playground is located on Birch Drive and has swings, climbing structures and greenspace.
  • The Waterfront Park is located on Waterfront Road, off of Highway 105, provides a covered picnic area, a beach, and a playing field as well as the historic "Patricia" freight boat.
  • Pakwash Provincial Park located 19 km north of Ear Falls has both covered and uncovered picnic areas, a beach, a playing field, a playground and electrical and non-electrical campsites.
